On Monday, tragedy struck Madison Christian School as a shooting in a study hall claimed two lives, with several others injured. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes revealed that the incident occurred while students from various grades were present. The suspect's parents granted consent for their home to be searched, and the father is cooperating with authorities.

• 11:05 a.m.: Officers reported the shooter was down and recovered the weapon.

SSM Health confirmed that four injured individuals were treated, with two discharged and the others in stable condition.

Barbara Weirs, Director of Elementary and School Relations, disclosed that while the school follows safety protocols, it does not have metal detectors. Earlier in the year, a lockdown drill was conducted as part of these protocols.

A student recalled hearing gunshots while preparing for lunch. Nearby resident Guy Nelson expressed shock, saying, "You always see it on TV, but it’s different when it’s in your backyard.”

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers ordered flags to be flown at half-staff and emphasized the importance of addressing such tragedies. “As a father and grandfather, I cannot accept this as a reality. Our focus remains on supporting the families and community,” he stated.
